CALL FOR PAPERS
THE CALL FOR PAPERS IS NOW CLOSED AND IS INCLUDED HERE FOR ARCHIVAL PURPOSES ONLY.
This conference seeks to address the relationship between religion and environment. It will bring together researchers from across the humanities to question the connections between issues of environmental crisis and political religion, and the ways these manifest within popular culture. What is the nature of the intersection between religion and popular culture, and what impact does a human-environment relationship have on this?
Researchers are invited to present papers, not exceeding 20 minutes, which address the three-cornered relationship between religions, environments and popular culture. Proposals are welcome from researchers working on any period, religious (or secular) tradition, culture and world region. Topics may include (but are not limited to):
We invite responses to these and related questions in the form of 20-minute paper or a pre-released paper (2500 words max) to be completed and distributed in advance of the conference to allow for a longer Q/A discussion. Please specify your preference in your submission and we will do our best to accommodate your preference. Abstracts should not exceed 300 words.
When writing your abstract please bear in mind that given the interdisciplinary nature of the conference, the audience may not all be familiar with specialist terminology and concepts specific to your discipline so please try to make your abstract as accessible as possible.
Please also include a title for the proposed presentation and details of your PhD topic, discipline and University.
Please use the form below to submit your abstract and personal details.
The CFP is now closed. Decisions will be sent by the end of July. Registration will open in early August.
